Positive scores swing in the direction of **Buy**, and negative scores swing towards **Wait** - Factors sum up to one score, which becomes the FaceValue Verdict: **Buy or Wait** --- ## The factors Here's everything pushing this presale up or down the FaceValue scale. ### Their first Toronto shows since 2022 + The Boys last played here on Canada Day weekend in 2022, with two nights at RBC Amphitheatre (then Budweiser Stage). It'll be four and a half years since that visit when they come to Rogers Centre. ### Four nights at Rogers Centre is WILD -- When I saw the announcement, I had to wipe my sleep-deprived eyes to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. Four nights at Rogers Centre?! Not even when Coldplay, [Bruno Mars](https://facevalueto.ca/bruno-mars-the-romantic-tour-2026/), or [Harry Styles](https://facevalueto.ca/harry-styles-together-together-tour-2027/) announced their Toronto stadium dates did they drop FOUR on us from the jump. No. They all subjected us to the *will-they-won't-they* chase of adding dates to maximize their sales. At a posted capacity of 43,000, that's 172,000 tickets the Backstreet Boys are looking to move. Let's compare to some other massive artists that played multiple nights at Rogers Centre and whether they turned out to be Buy's or Wait's: - **Kendrick Lamar x SZA** (2x, 2025): **Wait** - GA Pit dropped 60%, prices below face both nights - **The Weeknd** (4x, 2025): **Wait** - Prices fell below face 3/4 nights - **Ed Sheeran** (3x, 2026, pre-*losing his career to Macklemore*): **Wait** - All three heavily discounted ### They're not stopping at four -- Here's my biggest concern heading into the sale. If these four shows sell well, I don't see why they'd leave it there. Their 2025 Las Vegas Sphere run set the precedent: they started with 9 shows, which eventually ballooned to **FIFTY-EIGHT shows**. They are still playing Sphere shows heading into 2027! Their Germany stadium residency also started with 6 and ended up with 9 (so far). With the Blue Jays not taking up the venue until April 2027, that effectively leaves the Backstreet Boys with a 3-month window from January to March to add shows. We've seen what added dates can do in Toronto. [Bruno Mars](https://facevalueto.ca/bruno-mars-the-romantic-tour-2026/) started with two and ended with five, leading to all five being a **Wait**. I wouldn't be shocked to see more BSB dates added if the first four move quickly. Rogers customers are getting presale access before even the paid Backstreet Army fan club does. Having such massive marketing support will definitely help reach people who aren't generally tapped into concert announcements. Rogers will make sure every person in and around the country knows that the Backstreet Boys will be in Toronto next February! 2. If they were confident that the tour would sell well on its own, especially after selling 58 dates in Las Vegas, they wouldn't need Rogers to help promote it. When was the last time you saw a show announcement come with this heavy of a marketing push? ### "Stadium exclusive" is tactical phrasing - The announcement calls these their "only North American stadium shows of 2027." Mind you, they already have shows at the Sphere in Las Vegas scheduled for January. Those don't count as stadium shows, and neither would another arena residency. That's what bugs me about the wording. They're giving Toronto the appeal of exclusivity while leaving room for more shows elsewhere. It could be that the Sphere shows are the only thing preventing them from saying "North American exclusive" outright, but leaving shows unannounced for as long as possible to optimize for FOMO has kind of been Live Nation's bread and butter. Toronto being an exclusive capital for any sort of concert run is super rare; let's talk about that.. ### Toronto is not a destination spot in February... - They're leveraging the exclusivity in hopes that people will travel in. But how appealing is Toronto in February? It's probably the single worst month to visit Toronto: all of the brutality of Canadian winters with none of the holiday charm. Winter fatigue will have set it in nationwide by then. ![Toronto in February. I'm far from being a Vegas-enjoyer, but you have to admit they have us beat by having perhaps the coolest concert venue in the world. If you're going to splurge on travel and tickets, why would you choose Toronto over a Vegas show that is still ongoing and taking place even sooner? Spoiler alert! ![Reddit comment regarding BSB in Toronto](https://storage.ghost.io/c/6e/0c/6e0cce82-0f24-4042-83ee-2fc19de95d7a/content/images/2026/10/image-1.png) Toronto has the potential to be a gorgeous destination for a residency; it's just really difficult to pull off in February. ### Some quick-fire factors: - **Friday and Saturday nights +** - Prime time for a group outing, including for those deciding closer to showtime. - **Millennium nostalgia +** - The bill gives fans a reason to return, even if they've seen the Boys before. --- ## The verdict With a nearly unlimited runway to meet the demand and glummy timing, I expect the **Backstreet Boys concerts in Toronto** to be a **Wait**. The hype will be through the roof upon presale, and I anticipate the FOMO signals to be especially brutal with Rogers playing support, but patience will pay out with this one.
